NASA Unveils Artemis II Launch Schedule with Canadian Astronaut Jeremy Hansen
NASA has revealed the potential launch dates for the Artemis II mission, which will feature Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen. The agency has pinpointed several two-hour launch windows starting from February 6th and extending until the end of April. This mission marks a significant milestone as it will be the first crewed journey to the moon since 1972 and Hansen's inaugural space mission.
Hansen, a 49-year-old resident of London, Ontario, will become the first non-American to venture beyond low Earth orbit. The Artemis II mission will involve the Orion spacecraft, named 'Integrity' by its four-person crew, which will orbit the moon and return to Earth over a span of approximately 10 days.
This mission holds particular importance as it represents the first crewed flight for the Orion spacecraft. However, officials have cautioned that delays are a possibility. The Artemis I mission, which was uncrewed, encountered three postponements due to technical challenges and adverse weather conditions before it finally launched in November 2022 for a 25-day mission.
NASA has recently announced that the spacecraft's rollout to the launch pad could commence as early as this weekend. This development comes as a follow-up to a report by The Canadian Press, which was initially published on January 12, 2026. The Artemis II mission is poised to be a pivotal moment in space exploration, with Hansen's participation adding a new dimension to the endeavor.
