The Senior Bowl, set for January 31 at 1:30 p.m. CT in Mobile, Alabama, will feature a trio of Illini players: quarterback Luke Altmyer, offensive lineman J.C. Davis, and outside linebacker Gabe Jacas. This marks a significant achievement, as it ties the Illinois record set in 2023 when Chase Brown, Sydney Brown, and Quan Martin participated in the game. Altmyer's inclusion is particularly notable, as he will become the second Illini quarterback to play in the Senior Bowl, following Kurt Kittner in 2002. Coach Bielema's influence is evident, as he has sent a total of 10 Illini players to the Senior Bowl, including this year's three, which is the second highest in Illinois history, just behind Mike White's 11. Moreover, Bielema's 10 players in the Senior Bowl over any five-year period is a record in Illini history. The East-West Shrine Bowl, scheduled for January 27 at 6 p.m. CT in Frisco, Texas, will also feature an Illini player: defensive lineman James Thompson Jr. The Hula Bowl, taking place on January 10 at 11 a.m. CT in DeLand, Florida, will showcase offensive linemen Josh Gesky and Melvin Priestly.
