The electric SUV market is heating up, and Zeekr is not holding back! The 2026 Zeekr X is set to make its mark in Australia with a powerful upgrade. But will it be enough to steal the spotlight from its bigger sibling, the 7X?
A Power Boost for the Compact SUV
The upcoming Zeekr X update has been spotted in Australian certification documents, revealing a significant power increase. The small premium SUV will now offer a choice between a 250kW single-motor rear-wheel drive and a more potent 365kW dual-motor all-wheel drive. That's a 50kW boost, thanks to a new, more powerful motor!
And here's where it gets interesting: the torque figures are equally impressive. While not listed in the Australian documents, Zeekr's Chinese website confirms a 30Nm increase, delivering 373Nm for the rear-drive and a substantial 573Nm for the all-wheel-drive variant.
Performance to Match the Power
With this upgrade, the Zeekr X RWD maintains its 0-100km/h sprint time of 5.6 seconds, while the AWD shaves off a few milliseconds, now reaching the mark in 3.69 seconds. But is this enough to compete with other electric SUVs in its class?
A Subtle Facelift and Tech Upgrade
Apart from the power boost, the updated Zeekr X boasts a few other enhancements. It now features a sleek Seattle Green exterior option and refreshed interior colorways, including black, black and white, and a bold black and orange combination. Additionally, its infotainment system gets an upgrade with Zeekr's latest 5.5 operating system running on a 14.6-inch touchscreen.
A Competitive Market
However, the Zeekr X faces stiff competition, even within its own family. The larger 7X has been a sales success, outselling the X almost two-to-one in 2025. And let's not forget the Volvo EX30, a cousin from the same corporate family, which also outsold the X by a significant margin.
Zeekr, a Chinese brand under the Geely umbrella, which also owns Volvo, Polestar, and Smart, is certainly making waves in the electric vehicle space. But with such fierce competition, can the Zeekr X update make a lasting impression?
What do you think? Is the power upgrade enough to make the Zeekr X a top contender, or does it need more to stand out in the crowded electric SUV market? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
