Motorsport stars of 2025 bid farewell with a dazzling FIA Awards in Tashkent
The 2025 season closed in spectacular fashion at tonight’s FIA Awards in Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent. Bringing together champions and luminaries from all seven World Championship categories, the night was memorable not only for the victors but also for the 2,500 motorsport fans who attended live at Tashkent’s Humo Arena—the first time the venue hosted such an event.
Present were FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, as the ceremony crowned the season’s winning drivers, co-drivers, and navigators after a year of intense competition. The event was organized by the National Automobile and Karting Federation of Uzbekistan (NAFKU) with support from Rolex, DHL, Hankook, and AlphaTauri.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem commented: “Here in Tashkent we celebrate the motorsport family—the commitment, spirit, and dedication at the heart of our sport. We also look toward tomorrow’s champions, those just starting their journeys and achieving early successes. Congratulations to all our well-deserved winners; it is an honor to share this moment with you.”
From their first days in competition, motorsport athletes dream of becoming World Champions. The iconic trophies awarded on stage represent those dreams realized. The evening’s theme, Dreams of a Champion, framed a spellbinding show that recounted the 2025 seasons, where several World Champions clinched titles on the final day of their campaigns.
Beyond the trophies, the night also featured the FIA Rookie of the Year and the Action of the Year awards, chosen by fans across FIA’s social media channels in each World Championship category.
Since motorsport began, it has driven societal progress. To honor those who have elevated racing and improved lives, the FIA President’s Innovation Award this year went to a true legend—Enzo Ferrari. The trophy was accepted by Enzo’s son and Ferrari Vice Chairman Piero Ferrari, with Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc making the trip to Uzbekistan to show support for the storied marque’s ongoing global success.
Among the new highlights for 2025 was the FIA WRC of the Year Award, presented to a organization that demonstrated exceptional commitment to rallying—a discipline close to the President’s heart as a former rally champion.
The inaugural Rally del Paraguay exceeded all targets, embodying collaboration between the FIA administration, the host ASN, national and regional governments, media, and commercial partners. Paraguay’s President Santiago Peña accepted the award on stage from FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
In Formula One, a new champion emerged as Lando Norris realized his childhood dream of reaching the sport’s pinnacle. Norris’ McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri battled him to the finish and collected third place in Tashkent. The McLaren outfit also clinched the Constructors’ title for the second time, with Zak Brown and Andrea Stella accepting the trophy after gaining momentum since the Singapore Grand Prix.
Ferrari enjoyed a victorious evening in the FIA World Endurance Championship, claiming the Manufacturers’ title, with the #50 car finishing third, the #83 AF Corse trio second, and the #51 crew—Alessandro Pier Guidi, Antonio Giovinazzi, and James Calado—taking the World Championship for Drivers.
In off-road and rally, Toyota and TOYOTA GAZOO Racing dominated the scene, securing top honors in both the FIA World Rally and World Rally-Raid Championships for 2025.
Sé́bastien Ogier matched a record with a ninth FIA World Rally Championship Drivers’ crown, while his co-driver Vincent Landais earned the World Champion trophy for the first time. They were pushed to the limit by their Toyota teammates Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin in the final rally in Saudi Arabia.
Lucas Moraes stood atop the World Rally-Raid Driver standings as a new champion, while Edouard Boulanger claimed the Navigator’s Championship for the second consecutive year.
In World Rallycross, Johan Kristoffersson extended his dominance, securing an eighth championship win with his VW Polo RX1e. Tommy Kristoffersson joined his son to capture the teams’ title for KMS.
On the circuit side, Oliver Rowland enjoyed a fairy-tale season, clinching the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for Nissan. An illness kept him out of Portland, but a year later he soared to the title. In the teams’ and manufacturers’ battles, TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team and Porsche took the respective crowns.
The Karting World Championships highlighted the sport’s newest talents on the night dedicated to Dreams of a Champion. Britain’s Noah Baglin claimed the OK-Junior title, while Belgium’s Thibaut Ramaekers and the Dutchman Senna van Walstijn won the OK and KZ classes, respectively.
The FIA Rookie of the Year award continues to be a predictor of future superstardom, following the paths of past recipients like Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Oscar Piastri. This year’s honor went to Rafael Câmara, who just clinched the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
